The Blessing

In the hush before dawn, the meadow hilltop is still. The grass is heavy with pewter droplets of dew. Like mercury they dance on the plantain leaves, all ripple-y, designed to channel moisture. The valley is hidden, obscured by the thick wool shorn from a mythical sheep.

The Circle

Twilight falls and one by one candles are awakened. The tall old woods come alive, lit by glowing firefly-like specks. The nighttime inhabitants of the forest step aside and silently allow this event.
