I’m a housewife. I love it. My husband loves it. I am very lucky. Not many families can have one of the spouses stay home. It works for us. My husband hates yard work. I love it. So today includes poop scooping, mowing and minor flower bed cleanup. I also have to get out the ladder [...] Okay, I gave in. I could tell that it just wasn’t worth stressing out the hubby. He’s amazed that I got it all cleaned up again in one day. It wasn’t that bad. I have pulled stunts like this in the past. They never work. I should know better. At least I got a lot of [...] “Happily Oblivious” is going along well. At least I’m having a good time. I spent the day carding and spinning and watching the game. They lost so I took a nap. The kitchen is getting pretty awful but there are still some dishes that are clean. The living room is almost in-passable. I’ve spread [...] I must admit that the events of this summer had caught up with me. My son is temporarily living here again…we had to get him out of the gang neighborhood before he got killed…and it’s amazing how quickly you forget what it’s like to live with a self-centered slob. Pacing and out of sorts, unable to [...] I was up this morning before 5am. Peachy, our beagle/coonhound, woke me up to go out. I couldn’t get back to sleep. As I sat watching the day begin, I remembered many happy, very early mornings at Grandma Gilly’s and Grandpa Jack’s. My sister Suzanne and I loved to stay there overnight. We were little. Probably [...] Who makes homemade jam these days? Isn’t it easier to go buy it? Well yeah, it is easier to go buy it. But making homemade anything is something everyone should experience at some point in their lives. I was at Julie’s for the week (you know, Lucy…). We had gotten 3 cases of fresh blueberries on [...] My yard is way too shady to grow most veggies. I have a few tomatoes in buckets behind the garage and I usually stick a few basil plants in between the perennials. But for the most part, I get the good stuff at the West Allis Farmer’s Market. I expect at this time of the year [...] I’m not a “morning person”. I’d rather sleep until at least 9am. But in the summer…the fresh air…well, it’s worth it to get up early. I live in a medium-sized midwest city. Kinda in the ‘burbs. I have a lawn, garden, trees, a quiet street. It’s about as close to living in the country as we [...] I live on a corner lot in the city. We’ve been here for 5 years now. I like it. It’s manageable. My husband detests yard work. I love it. Opposites attract! We don’t completely agree on the question I pose in this title.
