I decided when I got up this morning that is was such a nice day that I just had to take advantage of it. And how does a crazy fiber addict do that? By scouring her fleece and hanging it to dry, of course.
I had about half of the 9#’s I got from Hidden Valley still to scour. I use my kitchen sink. It works very good for large handfuls at a time. Then I spin the batches in the washer in a pillow case. This time I had a light bulb moment about drying. My son’s hammock is on the patio for the summer. I got 2 flat twin sheets. I used clothes pins to hold one sheet to the hammock, spread out the fleece and pinned the other sheet on top to keep it from blowing away. It’s rather breezy today. I’ll bet it’s dry before the ballgame tonight!
While it’s drying, I am going to take the drum carder out to the patio and card while the other stuff dries. It’s nice to have batches in stages.
I’ve been emailing with Carol from Hidden Valley. She is going to be teaching a dyeing class. I’m going. I haven’t done any of that other than dabble with food coloring and berries in the yard on scraps. Also Stefania Isaacson is going to teach about natural dyes at Carol’s farm. Carol is working on a date for this. I can’t wait!
After a quick lunch, I’m off to the patio to drum, or card…whatever…play with fluff!

Wow! This blog is great. I’m more and more inspired to create my own. Now, to find the time.
