During the holiday season, we’ve felt the special glow that extends outward from all of us. Some ask, “why don’t we act like it’s Christmas every day?” I don’t personally know any fallen heroes. I wish I had at least a picture of the closet door edge that we marked his height on through the years. He’s probably 6’1″ or so. A tall handsome man. Sparkling blue eyes. The window was open a little, and I awoke to the memory-jogging sweetness of lilacs. My Dad’s parents owned a farm. Grandma Mary and Grandpa Iggy. She was Italian and he was Polish. That in itself made things interesting, and for some incredible [...] My daughter is amazing. She manages a full time school schedule in pre-pharmacy, 3 part time jobs, being an awesome parent to a 4 year old and keeps a household running smoothly (mostly organic and very green). Of course she doesn’t realize that she is an awesome Mom, or that her household runs smoothly. She [...] I got scolded yesterday. Something that doesn’t happen often at age 47. I was talking to Julie on the phone. Telling her about my son’s apartment. Blah blah, went to the store. Blah blah, bought light bulbs for him. And she says, “compact fluorescent?” “Um, no.” “GINA”, she says, “shame on you”. I made some excuse [...] I talked to my son today. A couple times in fact. He finally got his electricity turned on, but not the gas. There is a leak in the line that goes to the stove and the management company has to repair that. He sounded upbeat. Hungry, but upbeat. I have some groceries for him. Stuff [...] I know the old saying…”If you don’t like the weather, wait a few minutes”. That is usually true here in Wisconsin. But this spring has not been typical.
